RETROKID: Don’t know if you know, but there is a method to the randomness on the Dunks I blocked up for the Sole Collector event on November 16th at Niketown NYC. Everyone has an opinion on the shoes, and at the end of the day, if you like it, you like it. If you don’t like it, you don’t like it. I made the shoes to be different but also to show how cool NikeID has become lately. With so many material options and color options, you truly can create something unique and individual.

So with that said, the Yankees colorway is self explanatory I think. Obsidian nubuck with patent leather swoosh and parts of the upper. Cowboy Special #2 is a little more different. My main goal was to be completely different. You’ve probably seen the Mita Dunks and Forces with different colors and materials, but I wanted to take it a step further. I wanted to make each PIECE of the Dunk a different color, as well as a different material so no two pieces touch each other. Snakeskin, reptile skin, ostrich skin, suede, nubuck, leather, etc.

Pretty neat, and the midsole is different as well. But the thing that I’m most proud of, is that there hasn’t been a color blocked like the Yankees and Cowboy Special #2 before. Sure, different materials and colors have been done, but as I was going through the process I discovered that the piece along the heel is actually two pieces, not one. Usually, Dunks have that piece colored with only one color, but I wanted to be different and made it two different colors. So that’s basically it, it’s been a blessing to actually be able to do colorways for a Dunk, one of my lifelong dreams. I hope everyone likes it, I made the Yankee for everyone that likes a solid colorway, and of course the Cowboy Special for those that like to be a little bit different…haha.
