DC Shoes in association with Subtext will present a special exhibition titled Kicks late next month. The event will include a series of customized sneakers from an extensive artist list enabling the artists to capture their creativity via various DC sneakers. The artists include Ronald Kurniawan, Angry Woebots, Ekundayo, Miles Donovan, Julie West, KMNDZ, Joshua Clay, David Foldvari, Josh Kenyon, Colby Nichols, Jasper Wong, Marco Zamora, James Jirat Patradoon, Corey Smith, Josh Taylor, Sandra Equihua, and Cole Gerst. The sneaker pictured above was customized by Angry Woebots. The opening reception is slated for January 25th and will run until February 17th at Subtext.

The Nike1Vote initiative has given the residents of Baltimore, Philadelphia and now New York a chance to voice their opinions on the greatest Air Force 1 of all time. Previous selections for Baltimore and Philadelphia had the Ueno Sakura and most recently the Mark Smith declared winners in each respective city. The winning shoe for each city will be re-released only in that city in mid-2008. Nike1Vote will wrap up in the mecca of Air Force 1’s, New York City with a vote taking place between January 2nd, 2008 and January 31st at the following locations, Jimmy Jazz, Transit, Brooklyn USA and Niketown NYC. A video involving DJ Clark Kent, Mayor, Hawaii Mike, DJ EMZ and Curtains documents how these big time AF1 fans of New York came to the top 25 which will be voted upon by the citizens of New York.
