The proof, they say, is in the pudding, and after months of speculation, gossip and radio hits, Canadian artist Drake unveils his third studio album: Nothing Was The Same. Not unlike Take Care, the album is an even balance of both rap and neo R&B, though still with the same slick-talking ferocity that earned the Toronto native his initial popularity. Split as this particular group of listeners may be, it’d be hard to claim that the album isn’t as conscious a pop effort as there’s been all year, with songs like “Started From The Bottom” and “Hold On, We’re Going Home” already radio stalwarts. Other gems, such as “Come Thru” and “Furthest Thing” underline the rapper’s smoothness, while “Tuscan Leather” and “Pound Cake/Paris Morton Music 2” seem perfectly epic bookends for what will probably go down as Drake’s most hotly criticized release yet. The time has come though, to decide for oneself. Listen to the stream on Spotify below, and be sure to pick up the album, which is in stores and on iTunes today.
