Future wasn’t always the household name that many fans recognize him as today. The grind was rough and it also took some deep digging for Atlanta’s rap powerhouse to get to where he’s at currently. As Rolling Stone has recently revealed the dread-swinging melodic rapper will grace its cover, writer Brian Hiatt provides an inside look into Future’s past, present and well, future. Facing poverty while growing up is an unfortunate stage that he (born Nayvadius) had to go through, but being robbed at gunpoint has managed to make him work 10 times as hard as he thought he could.

Transitioning into the roller coaster relationship with Ciara which eventually led to a split and legal battles for Baby Future, Future managed to get back to his original self which resulted in projects that demanded the attention of listeners such as Monster, DS2 and What a Time to Be Alive alongside Drake. Future has expressed that the only thing he’s comfortable with is recording and that’s something fans have no problem with. His studio is filled with recreational greenery, dim lighting and whatever the kids call codeine nowadays. The strip club is his inspiration and the term vacation is far from what your average Joe saving money to take a break from work looks like.
