Taking on the roles of writer, producer, director and lead actor, Nate Parker’s The Birth of a Nation is a film about the great Nat Turner and the slave rebellion he led in 1831 Virginia. Having won the Audience Award and Grand Jury Prize in the U.S. Dramatic Competition during this year’s Sundance Film Festival, the acclaimed motion picture also stars Armie Hammer, Aja Naomi King, Jackie Earle Haley, Penelope Ann Miller and Gabrielle Union. The Birth of a Nation is slated to hit theaters October 7.
