What are your thoughts on Bansky ( http://www.banksy.co.uk ) ?

Would you say that he is one of the most popular artists of today?

Why do you think he's prolific as an artist?

If you don't think that he's prolific as an artist, why is that?

I think it's more oversaturation than anything. seems like every art school kid that moves to a city does this(at least in chicago).Bansky came thru here last week and did a pretty cool one. got buffed in like 2 days. woulnd't say i like it but i can appercaite where he goes to do this. someof them are funny

He is an amazing artist, but he needs more fame. Of course, us involved with art or clothing know of him, but do the common people on the streets?

Banksy is dope as hell. I remember I had to do an English project on him back in 2005, before I even knew who he was or what he did. Definitely left a huge impression on me. Saw his documentary (or mockumentary) a few weeks back too.

i dunno, i get bored with a ton of his shit. ihave his boooks and whatnot, and they're pretty cool, but after the first view it's boring as shit. i find that stencils and conscious "street art" juist gets so old after a while.

a ridiculous amount of people know about banksy.
hes probably bigger than almost any fine arts artist i can think of and in the street art world id say hes number 2 next to sheperd fairy in terms of publicity

edit: contemporary fine arts artist*

his ideas are easy to understand and he's using the streetart for the right sense... he interacts with the street, culture and its problems.
HIS WORK CAN ONLY BE MADE IN THE STREET.

correct me if i'm wrong:
he's the first streetartist who used the stencils and don't just put his name on.

There are better dudes in the game, but no hate, he's still grinding enough for some respect.

I like the stuff in Brasil more, Os Gemeos and Finok style.

he's a genius in my book...his work carries a greater meaning that does what art is supposed to...reflect aspects of our society back to us. If you don't get it...there's no use in arguing.

i live in chicago.
i personally know alot of people who do it (tagging not stenciling) atleast 25+
I personally know people who have climbed taller buildings/factories/bridges than he has. Its common all over my city. Its EVERYWHERE taking the train to downtown chicago. I know someone who got locked up for that. I can honestly say if i was into the shit they are into (no job, party all the time, get high/slang, women not so great) , i would be doing the same thing. Its an adrenalin rush for them. I honestly would have the "balls" for it but shit dont even phase me. Plus my drawing skills arent that great. Keep in mind bansky makes stencils at home. Its harder doing graffiti on the top of your head (granted they practice). Just sayin what he does isnt uncommon. Its just relevant to some because he has "messages" behind his art. Ask a real graff artist, they got no cred. They are cop outs and make money off commission and being able to sell merchandise under their name.

i know what you mean, i hope i didn't come off like that.
first time i did the heavens legs was shaking, was scared as fuck seeing cars passing at 65-80mph under you.
ain't gonna lie.
i did graff but moved to street art before it blew up. i'm also in my 25+.
i have a 10yrs off and on due to snitches...
i no longer do it as much now but go out every drunk moment i get that itch.
but yeah man i feel, big ups to you chi-city writers.

Tbh this is wrong, kaws and futura both are amazing ARTISTS.

Any one who pulls this out the bag is grand in my eyes

Banksy is ghey, his work in person is shite, he he is an old fart and pretty big with faggots. If i was him however, there is no way i would have said no to the money he is making. So he is pretty much a hero, makes shit art and sells it to clueless cunts who haven't got a cunting clue.
