Only 4 months to go before the next FIFA title drops.

long read but worth it.

The technology behind FIFA 12

In Depth: Putting the crunch into crunching tackles

For a game that lives or dies by its control mechanism, tinkering with something as fundamental as how the contact between players works in EA Sports' FIFA 12 is a risky move.
And yet, EA Sports has decided the need to make its football game feel more realistic makes implementing a whole new Player Impact Engine in next season's version worth changing some previously fundamental gameplay.
Along with what it is calling 'precision dribbling' 'tactical defending' and 'Pro Player Intelligence', the Player Impact Engine is part of a quarter of key changes to the technology behind FIFA 12.

It's a significant overhaul, and it is meant as a compliment when we suggest that, from the time we have spent with the next iteration of the game, that the changes feel significant without breaking the gameplay features that make the FIFA franchise fun.
As EA describes it

oh yes, can't wait. They should really change the defending seeing as how when i or someone else chips over the defender there is like a lag and the defender stops whereas the player who's receiving the ball is still going. Also they should have it where you are able to box out the defender instead of actually getting the ball near the line.smokeyface

That glitch has been happening since FIFA '09. What you can always do is switch to the last defender if you read the play. Personally, I'm happy with FIFA '11 defending.

I loved fifa 09 but after that it kinda got boring

Every damn year we have to buy one to keep up with the lastest graphics and skills update and moves jersey etc.

Wish this game came out with some intriguing update

like some DLC that would update the whole damn game.

I want to see the world burn

Honestly what I don't like after Fifa 09 is the fact that ranked clubs has to be played with your virtual pro now...I liked it much better when in club you picked Atletico Madrid you'd be playing with Forlan and shit not made up characters + your virtual pros.

Buffalo Bills till I die.

I'm thinking about getting this. It'd be my first FIFA game, and there seems to be a lot of hype for this one, with the precision dribbling and impact engine. I don't really follow international soccer though, so I don't know if I would really like this or not.

I seem to get beat in the air when I control a defender.. WTF am I doing wrong?!
I seem to try and position myself properly but rarely win fuckin headers when I'm trying to defend!?!!
Pisses me the fuck off cuz you have a guy like Denilson who wins the ball against my player Alex or like Fellaini!! Shit would never happen!

From what I've been reading in terms of previews/first impressions, it's been repeated multiple times that after playing 12, fifa fans cannot go back to 11. Could very well be just hype-induced, people always say the same things about new maddens, fifas, etc.

But from what I've seen, the new "physics"/collision engine alone is enough to warrant a purchase of 12 over 11. That alone is worth the money. Plus they supposedly made career/manager mode better. In 11 that mode was pretty basic, I really never finished 1 season out of all the times I tried to play the mode.

Probably not gonna be much of a difference between the two, but if you don't paying the $60 wait it out. Always better to have the newest version IMO.

Clint Dempsey exists, and he did well in the EPL, unlike Donovan. Dempsey is Fulham's all time leading scorer.

He must be the all-time American scorer for them then. They don't make it clear when they mention it during epl games
