i know on PCs you can go in the control panel and add/delete programs all on one master list, how do i do this on MACs?
Open the applications folder. Drag and drop the app that you want to uninstall into the dock trash bin. That's it.

The laser or motor is fucked. DVD drives are cheap enough to make fixing it not even worth it. If it's a 5.25" drive (common in all desktop computers) just hit up Newegg and buy the cheapest IDE or SATA dvd drive possible. If it's for a laptop, you can either hunt on Ebay for a replacement model, hit up the manufacturer's website, or find a slim drive on Newegg and do some research as to if it'll fit in your laptop.

Yea laptop disc drives are pretty fragile. Since they area good bit smaller than their desktop brethren, they aren't cheap. I think they start at ~$50 and up. You can get ones that are tray-less like those found on Apple's laptops and the PS3 among other devices. Make sure you know which interface you have on your laptop for the disc drive. Anything within the last 3-4 years should be SATA. Double check by grabbing the model number of the drive and hitting up Google.

waddup,
my it's been some time since I went on here.

I was wondering what you guys use to protect your pc from viruses, malware and the likes.

I use malwarebytes and spybot: search and destroy. I use to use spydoctor, but recently it's been trying to charge me to clean out my computer.

So, again, what programs do you guys use?blushing

Whoever said McAfee, gtfo.

Choose between avira or avast. avast updates in the background, and runs perfectly.

What IM program you guys use?

I still have AIM from way back in 2005. I heard the new versions suck.

Any IM programs that allow you to send/receive files like AIM?

You know not what you speak of. Avast! Free Edition and AVG Home are free and meet or surpass paid versions of other anti-virus software. I personally use Avast! free edition on all of the computers I work on. It is nice and light and can be made to extremely unobtrusive, which is excellent.

I'm sure all new versions of AIM and Windows Messenger Live support file swap.

My computer has been slow as hellll lately.
I tried malwarebytes or whatever and that helped for a while
but now its slow again.
I tried some of the other reccomended programs as well, no luck.
Also I've had CA Security Center that my Dad installed since I've had the computer
but I dont think thats doing anything either.
I've defragged all the time.
deleted unnecessary programs too.

any suggestions?

^ Get rid of CA Security Center.

Download Microsoft Security Essentials. Scan for viruses.

Download CCleaner. Run it. Check for registry errors.

I now have another problem that just started about a day ago
There are random clicking noises and ads or music that are randomly playing
for about 5-10 seconds in the background.
Shit was trippin me out at first.

Im running scans all day trying to fix this shit.

^ Get rid of Avira.

Download Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE). Run a scan.

Run multiple scans with Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware. Then run CCleaner and defrag your hard drive.
