I've tried the norelco electric shaver and it gave me razor bumps. I get razor bumps from time to time using the gillette proglide especially on the right side of my lower cheek. Do you guys know a regime that works for blacks guys?

my ♥♥♥♥♥ understand that we black and because we got that nappy curly ass hair, anytime we shave too close we'll end up with razor bumps so super close shaves are outta the question. my advise, just don't shave too close. but i've been using the norelco and i don't get razor bumps anymore

Yeah use magic shave. The kind I used to use fuckng stank but try that. I had horrible razor bumps in high school and I barely got bitches because of it. There's also this stuff called skin tight to put on your neck after you shave. This shit is fucking magic. I'm not joking. I literally watched my bumps disappear. If you can order it or find it do that shit. Theres also a cream called bumper stopper which is good but not as good.

Pro tip: shave with the grain. Razor bumps happen because your curly hairs get cut and pushed into your skin like an ingrown hair when you shave against the grain.

Good luck man.

Same here, and nicely trimmed facial hair looks just as good as clean shaven.

I use clippers because i get razor bumps so easy, but i would suggest a razor called "bump fighters". and put on after shave daily. even if your not shaving daily it will get rid of the bumps.

The tables have turned ahah..
I used to get bumps every time my barber would go down to a zero on my neck, so I bought this shit Bump Patrol at CVS and problem solved. My barber even got into it and he uses it in a spray bottle with alcohol.
I rub it on right after a cut, and then again after every shower for a few days.

Bring your razor down torwards your neck in a smooth motion. Then when you get it right at your neck, start moving it left and right very vigorously. It'll be the closest/smoothest shave of your life.

thank god I don't have this issue. I shave against the grain for the best shave also.... Can someone tell me how and why razor bumps occur ? Is it due to a lack of shaving cream or dull razor ?

Hair that is more coarse and curly has a tendency to curl back into the skin because of its curly nature. this is the cause of razor bumps and ingrown hairs.

smh i don't even grow proper facial hair but i have to shave so i don't look 14. adjust the clippers (no wet shaving) so it's close enough to be clean but not so close it burns/itches/bumps

i'm yet to use aftershave, but moisturising afterwards couldn't hurt. also you can't get ingrown hairs without hair. if nothing else, shave more often, unless you have a mammoth impractical growth rate.

most black men don't really use razors anyway....an old school shaving technique is to use soap and water and that circular brush barbers use w/ the an old school razor like they use at the barber shop...also try putting a warm damp towel on your face too...opens the pours...or even once you get right out the shower is fine too
