What's with all these fake accounts?

I don't know if this is a problem in each forum, but I definitely notice it in the Movies forum. These random accounts make posts in a bunch of threads at a time with slightly relevant subject matter. They bump up old topics and are never written in proper English. Sometimes they link to other websites. What's the deal with these?

registration is open, meaning a lot will create accounts to spam
