Case in point: OVO’s latest major prospect, Canadian rapper BAKA NOT NICE.
Up until very recently, BAKA NOT NICE was immersed in legal drama and was best known as a member of Drake’s security detail. Come summer of 2017, he officially signed to OVO Sound, had a debut solo single and a full wealth of creative work ahead of him. After only three minor appearances on a trio of past Drake records, BAKA NOT NICE is ready to emerge as his label’s next star. Beginning to lay the foundations for a successful career, the former bodyguard serves up his sophomore single as a solo artist, “Money In The Bank.”
Loaded with an on-trend, contemporary beat and a AutoTune-tinged flow surrounded by a swirl of melodies, BAKA NOT NICE’s “Money In The Bank” is the sort of single that’s tailor-made for mainstream audiences. While time will tell if he succeeds at reaching the heights his labelmates have hit, his chances are stronger than ever thanks to his 2017 releases.
