The Nike Kyrie 3 "Bruce Lee" Is a Direct Homage to Kobe Bryant
Taking inspiration from Nike’s Kobe 5 iteration.
Kyrie Irving is paying homage to Kobe Bryant with his latest design for the Nike Kyrie 3 silhouette. The shock yellow and tonal black shoe is an apt commemoration to Mamba’s Nike Kobe 5 “Bruce Lee” iteration. Both pairs not only have the same moniker but feature the same palette alongside similar scratch marks embellished near the toe cap. Not to mention, the sneaker features a hybrid Kobe/Kyrie logo on its tongue.
In an Instagram post shared not long ago, the newly-signed point guard of the Boston Celtics relayed his thoughts on the K3 “Bruce Lee” inspiration. “I was 17-years-old playing in the Nike Extravaganza in California,” Irving explained. “And I ended up wearing these Nike Kobe ‘Bruce Lee’ editions for that game. We ended up winning, and from that point on it was hands down my favorite shoe, ever.”
