Extra Butter Ices Out adidas's AlphaBOUNCE Beyond
Pulling inspiration from VO2 Max training.
Bridging the gap between performance and lifestyle wear, adidas taps Extra Butter to bring its own brand of street sensibility to an exclusive AlphaBOUNCE Beyond colorway. Pulling inspiration from VO2 Max training – an allusion to the footwear’s running heritage — the model reimagines the athletic conditioning practice alongside an experiential in-store pop-up.
Sustaining the performance characteristics of the sneaker, the stylized kicks sit atop a white speckled Bounce midsole with a grey Seamless Forgedmesh upper. A grippy Continental Rubber outsole and a sock-like cushioned fit are embodied in a shape that promotes stability and multidirectional movement. Aesthetically, rather than keeping with the shoe’s conventions of wrapping the upper in relief patterning, the ornamentation is exchanged for icy Aero Blue plastic welds. The preceding color tonally accents the tongue, heel counter and lace guard.
Priced at $130 USD, the colorway is available only in-store and at Extra Butter’s website from March 16 through March 28.
